27 November 2005

I just found out that 3 of my finals are on the same day.

Thursday, Dec 8th:
8:00am-10:00am E102B, Pastoral & the Civil War
10:30am-12:30pm Korean 2B
1:30pm-3:30pm Cuban American Literature

But we're not sure what we're gonna do for the E102B final yet (it would be the 8am final). I hope it's take home. Half the class wanted take-home, half wanted in-class.

I also don't want to go back to school. Boooo.

25 November 2005

Noteworthy:

-Didn't sleep at all Tuesday night. Ended up only sleeping a little bit in the car. 75 minutes of sleep in about 42 hours. Not really fun.
-Lunch with my cousin John & Walter @ Chipotle on Wednesday. Mmmmm!
-Prepping for Thanksgiving dinner with John. I like how we didn't really know what we were doing, and much of our decisions were followed by a shrug and "Yeah, I guess that sounds good".
-Dinner with Pat, Walter, Mom, Dad & Mom2 (Pat's mom!) @ Cheesecake Factory. Great fun!
-This morning I helped cook Thanksgiving dinner (the turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes... & bought a pumpkin pie) with Walter and John for my family! We had a 17 pound turkey! Gobble, gobble.
-We didn't burn it!
-John's mom made her awesome stuffing and yams! And we had korean food too. Mmmmm kimchee & turkey!
-Eating Thanksgiving dinner with Mom, Dad, Walter, John, my Aunt & Uncle and my Grandpa. :)
-Watching "RENT" with Walter! Fantastic. :)

Tomorrow and Saturday I have to work. Booo. Tomorrow I'm also gonna see my cousins Linda (who flew in from Ohio!) and Helen 'cause they spend Thanksgiving with the other side of their family.

I'm a terrible student. I also get distracted really easily. I couldn't care less about micropolitics or 18th century British literature. My favorite part of my Cuban-American Lit class is the episode of "I Love Lucy" we watched last week, and the discussion that followed it. I enjoy the books, poems and essays we read in my classes, but I hate writing papers on them. I'm a senior, but most definitely on the 4+ plan. I have no idea if I want to go to graduate school or not. I have zero post-graduation plans. I realize that very little of what I'm currently studying will apply to whatever future career I will have. I think that my future diploma is in reality a glorified receipt for a $30,000+ bill.

It amazes me that after a lifetime of being a student, I'm still such a terrible one.

My parents are leaving for Korea tomorrow night. It's my grandma's 88th birthday! (My dad's mom) I haven't seen her in a while. And even though I know I'd be embarassed by my terrible korean, I wish I could tell her "Happy Birthday" in person.

I wonder sometimes what my family in Korea thinks of us [me, Walter, Mom & Dad].

I'm sad, not because they're leaving, but because I can't go with them.

I'm so sick of school.

This is better than Xanga because I can have a place to put links to music I'm listening to, places I like to frequent, and friends. It's over yonder-------->

I am also very excited about the long weekend, even if I do have to work.

"All moments, past, present, and future, always have existed, always will exist... It is just an illusion we have here on Earth that one moment follows another one, like beads on a string, and that once a moment is gone it is gone forever." -Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse-Five
